All Because 2 People Fell in Love

The family tree quilt is complete and I have finally taken pictures of it.  I will be giving it to my husband's grandparents this weekend at their 60th Anniversary party.

There are six children and their spouses, twelve grandchildren and their spouses, and four great-grandchildren.

I free motion quilted with a varigated blue thread around the trunk and leaves.  I also reverse appliqued the heart with their names and the year they were married.

I used dark green leaves as a filler and the light green leaves were hand embroidered with the names of all the children.

The quilt is appropriately titled, "All because two people fell in love"

This is my entry into the quilt category in the Ellison Lane Quilts Summer Sewing Contest.

Little Tote

I was getting ready for my first day of school and decided I needed a little bag to carry my snacks in.  You see, I am starting my Master's and getting my License in Professional Counseling this summer. My first class is a four and a half hour class on Saturday mornings.  I am going to need my snacks.

I love Good Fortune by Kate Spain and I especially adore the purple floral print and the dragonflies. This was a quick bag I fashioned from 3 fat quarters. It made the perfect little bag to carry a water bottle, trail mix, and some grapes.

WiP Wednesday!

It has been a very productive week and I have accomplished a few things on my list.

Family Tree Quilt- I finished up binding last night watching the Rizzoli and Isles season premiere.  I need to make a label, sew it on, wash and dry, and finally take photos!  I should be able to get photos up this weekend/early next week.

Vintage Holiday-I have finished up all 12 ornament blocks and I need to sash and border it.  I may not get to quilting it yet.  I want to take a longarm class and start learning on it.  We have a local place that does one-on-one lessons and rent by the hour longarm machines.

Dad's Table Toppers- I have been watching free motion quilting videos on you tube and I think I am ready to try out some cute new patterns.  The smaller placemats are basted and ready to go!

Vintage Modern Kitchen Accessories- All my fabric is in and I am ready to to start.

Stand Mixer Cover:  Finished and up in my Etsy shop!  The pattern is on it's way.  I just need to figure out how to get my paper pattern into a pdf that is sized right.  More photos in this post from the weekend.

It's Monday again!

We had a great weekend!  Claire and I visited the splash pad at our local rec-center for the first time this season.  She had a great time and has the scuffed up knees and feet to prove it. Here she is with carrots stuffed in her mouth.

Here she is all excited to get back in after the rest period.

We also made a strawberry pie using a recipe from The Cook's Country. It looks a little sad, but it tasted good.

Now for the sewing,  I finished up the blocks for the Vintage Holiday quilt I am putting together.  I love the pattern by Thimble Blossoms and I love the fabric, Vintage Modern.  These blocks will be put away for awhile so I can work on my craftsy block of the month June blocks and my vintage modern kitchen accessories.
